Step 2: Access via wrist or groin
A catheter is inserted through a small puncture site in the wrist or groin vein — no general anesthesia required.

Step 3: Guided imaging to locate problematic veins
X-ray dye (contrast) and fluoroscopy are used to visualize enlarged gonadal veins responsible for varicocele.

Step 4: Embolization of abnormal veins
Tiny coils or liquid embolic agents are deployed to block return flow through the varicocele veins, redirecting blood to healthy veins.

Blocked veins shrink, relieving pain and swelling—fertility and sperm quality may improve over days to weeks.
